Marquita Auguillard: Owner/Director

 

Marquita has more than 15 years of dance training and choreography that has won regional and national awards, including being honored a Teacher Choreography Award at Primetime, Rainbow, and Nexstar Dance Competition.  She even danced and cheered professionally for the former Texas Copperheads.

 

Born in Houston, TX, Marquita received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance and Dance Teacher Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. At SFA she was a member of the Repertory Dance Company which provided the opportunity to travel and perform on different stages and learn the elements of dance production. Marquita trained extensively in ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, modern contemporary, and improvisation. After graduation, she moved back to Houston where she taught all levels of creative movement, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and drill team prep to ages 2 to adult while also maintaining  a managerial position and assisting with Pendragon Academy’s dance company.

 

Marquita is very dedicated and passionate about the techniques she uses to teach and of the style and dynamics of the classroom. She is committed to increasing dance opportunities for all students to participate and understand the art of dance. She believes her students will apply what they have learned at Sassy Feet to life, including a sense of accomplishment and self esteem.

Shannon Doerr- Dance Instructor

(Pre-pointe, Pointe, Jazz/Tap Combo class, Lyrical, and Musical Theater)


Shannon Doerr has been teaching dance in Houston for the past 10 years, and has worked with theater productions in the area for the past 14.
Born in Richmond, TX, Shannon graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Sam Houston State University in 2013. During her time at SHSU, Shannon had the opportunity to work with well-known choreographers such as Gina Bolles Sorensen, Dana Nicolay, Dominic Walsh, Andy and Dionne Noble. Shannon trained in, ballet, jazz, modern, partnering, improve, Irish, swing, and pointe.
From the youngest child to the oldest grandparent everyone has the innate need to move to music, and Shannon loves to help that bloom into a joy of dancing. Ask her about ASD & ADHD in Dance.


As a teacher, Shannon’s goal in class is to stimulate the students to invest in the genre of the class and look forward to learning new things, while enforcing a high moral and social code of conduct. She looks forward to working with people of all ages, and hopes to inspire her students as much as her teachers inspired her.

Brooke Hale- Dance Instructor

(Ballet, Musical Theater, Ballet/Tap Combo classes, and Tap)


Brooke was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has a background in acting, singing and dancing. She received her bachelors degree in political science from Colorado State University. Her dance training includes 16 years of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and musical theater. Brooke has over three years experience teaching all of these disciplines at various levels both in Texas and Colorado studios. She has also been involved in musical theater productions throughout the greater Houston area and loves to incorporate her passion for theater dance and stage performance into her classes. 

She hopes that not only will her students grow in their knowledge of performance and technique, but will grow as people, learning the importance of team work, dedication and perseverance. 


Brooke is thrilled to be a part of the Sassy Feet family, and looks forward to sharing with you the beautiful art of dance.

Jasmine Burns- Dance Instructor


(Jazz, Contemporary, and Student Choreography)


 

Jasmine is a dance performer, choreographer, and teaching artist who graduated in May 2020 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance at Colorado State University. 

She has performed in over 15 dance concerts at CSU in student, faculty, and guest artists works, as well as participating in the CSU musical theatre production of “Cabaret”. 

Post graduation, Jasmine was offered a company position with Flatlands Dance Theatre, invited to the 2020 Lula Washington Dance Company Apprentice Training Program on scholarship, and was invited to dance with Impact Dance Company as a guest artist. 


Now based in Houston, Texas, Jasmine is ready to continue her dance journey and is especially excited to share her passion and love for dance with her students.

Lauren Smith- Dance Instructor

(Ballet/Tap Combo and Hip Hop)




Lauren C. Smith is an emerging artist from Jacksonville, Florida. She received her BFA in dance from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. Lauren is currently receiving her MFA in dance from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.


As a trailblazer, she has performed on many stages including: The International Association of Blacks in Dance, John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center, and The American College Dance Association.


Throughout Lauren’s artistic career she is proud of premiering an evening length production entitled the E.L.S.I.E project. Professionally Lauren has had the pleasure of working with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance as an Ensemble member.
